Three Guys From Miami: Cuban and Spanish Food Recipes

Raúl Musibay: These little "snacks" are served as appetizers at Cuban parties.

Jorge Castillo: You also might use them as a filling in Cuban meat pastries or in croquetas.

Cuban Ham Spread -- Pasta de Jamón

By Three Guys From Miami

Prep time: 10 minutes
Total time: 10 minutes
Yield: 4-6 servings

An all-purpose meat spread for crackers and fried bread rounds.


1 (8-ounce) package Cream cheese
2 tablespoons butter
6 ounces ground ham
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
1/2 cup olives, chopped (green or black or both)
salt and pepper to taste
Let cream cheese come to room temperature. Blend together ham with cream cheese, butter and dried mustard. Fold in chopped olives. Add salt only if necessary.

2 cans (4-1/2 oz.each) deviled ham
1 pkg (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup finely chopped drained pimentos
1/4 cup sweet pickle relish, drained
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients. Refrigerate several hours. Serve on crackers or bread.
